Calling all amateur archeologists….
Gloucester’s Center for Archeology, Preservation and Education (C.A.P.E.) is just down the road from the heart of Gloucester Courthouse. You’ve seen it, that cool 1930 Edge Hill Service Station on the corner across from the Gloucester Brewery.
C.A.P.E. houses archeology collections and interesting finds that tell our area’s history through local excavations. And, on the first and third Tuesdays, C.A.P.E. hosts Lab Night from 6-9pm. Join their team of archeologists and volunteers and help them to comb through, sort and wash artifacts right from their digs.
Are you interesting in digging? C.A.P.E. relies on the generosity fo volunteers with a variety of skills to help with their many projects in the Penensula / Tidewater region. Not sure that you have any skills, don’t worry! There is always something interesting and rewarding to get involved with.
C.A.P.E. is also open for tours on Thursdays from 10am-4pm.
Whether you attend Lab Night, or stop by for a tour, come early to stroll Gloucester Courthouse’s vibrant downtown shopping area and stay for dinner!
